Dear Alex:

How wonderful to have the privilege of sharing with you the 75 years of Slavic Missionary Service. Even though I have only been following these glorious years for a portion of the 75, it has been a delightful time for me. Especially so because of my being able to meet with Paul and Betty and share, in depth, with them what was really going on!!

SMS and all the individuals connected with it have been subjects of my prayer life for many years now. God has been faithful in His blessing beyond what we could ask. Life is so beautiful and we praise Him for it. My prayer would be that He would continue to “cover you with His feathers” and pour out His blessings on you for many years to come!

In His Eternal Love,

Del Musselman

Dear Pastor Leonovich,

Praise the Lord for the 75 years of ministry. A friend sent me Alex Leonovich: A Heart for the Soul of Russia. I received the book just after receiving your postcard regarding the 75th anniversary. I am enjoying the book very much. I am from the Old Bridge Baptist Church in East Brunswick. You have visited our church in years past and I did see you at Tabernacle Church a few years ago when you and my son, Bill Cosgrove, were at Tabernacle for a Mission Conference. I helped SMS with a mailing years ago in South River. I also know a couple of the people that were mentioned in the book. Philip Yancey is my brother's brother-in-law and I have read Praying with the KGB. Of course, I also knew Pastor Balfour.

I was going to contact you before I received the postcard. Years ago the Balalaika Orchestra came to our church and I was wondering if they still visit churches and perform.

God bless,
Pat Cosgrove

Dear Alex:

Just received your card advising of the 75th Anniversary for SMS! What a milestone of memories!! I’m sure much “water has gone under the bridge” carrying with it some extremely painful memories; however, our Lord Jesus Christ has a wonderful way of helping us retain only the good ones that assist us in our daily lives to be more like Him. As God looks down upon the accomplishments of SMS I’m certain that He is smiling and saying “that’s my boy, Alex!”

SMS is on my weekly prayer list and I feel privileged to be counted among the multitude of friends who have entered your life in one way or another. May our Great God cover you with His feathers and continue to reveal to you that which He would have you do to bring Him Honor, Glory, and Praise.

Blessings and much love to all at SMS,
Del Musselman

Alex-

It is my great joy to congratulate to you and Slavic Missionary Service on 75 years of uninterupted outreach! Alex, you and SMS are an inspiration to me. Since the 1970's have admired your courage, your commitment to our Lord, and your passion for reaching the lost. You were among the early few who championed using the electronic media to share Christ. Through your long history with National Religious Broadcasters you have consistently helped promote and preserve the airwaves as a tool for the Gospel. It is thrilling to see Slavic Missionary Service continue to champion the cause of Christ for now 75 years! It is my prayer that God will continue to bless you and this wonderful ministry for many, many years to come!

Hi Alex...

Received your postcard regarding the anniversary. Did go to the website... couldn't sign the guest book... some problem. Remembering some of the wonderful times we had together with you, with our folks, our church, our friends. Jan and I live in San Mateo.. attend the First Baptist Church... the Russian Church has moved from San Francisco accross the Bay to Contra Costa. Our children and their children now live in Westlake Village just north of Los Angeles. Recently sent out copies of our song book " Songs that Inspire" which my father and I collobarated in publishing (1953)...he wrote the lyrics I did the music.. and have been receiving words of encouragement that the Lord is blessing its use among our Russian folks in America. Praise Him! Some day when you are passing by us... please call.. let's break bread together.

We rejoice with you in what the Lord has done. My parents were from neighboring Estonia, and we are interested in such close neighbors in a special way. My godly ancestors are with the Lord and most of the family, after 50 years of Communism ruling and influencing their children, are now believers, sad to say. I pray for your work and hope the Lord will give them the message as well. We knew your daughter at our church in Essex Fells before we retired to Maine 13 years ago, and were so pleased to meet you then.
l Youeven took my Estonian Bible to a cousin overseas on one of your trips.

God bless you and all those dear people.

Subject: 75th Year

Dear Friends in Christ,

Many, many years ago the Lord allowed my husband and I and our two boys to attend the church in Manville pastored by Alex Leonovich and the Lord created a love for the Russian people and how thankful we are to have had that privilege. We were only in New Jersey for less than a year and moved to Indiana, my husband's home, and we continued to keep in touch with the Leonovich family and some other families in the church. My husband has been with the Lord for 13 years, and Babs Leonovich has been with the Lord for a few years. We are going through some difficult days, but challenging days. Alex Leonovich is certainly a role model in his untiring service for the Lord.

Getting your card in todays mail reminded me of meeting Alex Leonovich many years ago when he spoke at Mountainside Chapel. He had lunch with us, Peggy and Jim Clark, right near Echo Lake Park in Mountainside, N. J.. Now I do have other reminders too, we now attend Millington Baptist Church in Basking Ridge, and John and Oksana Leonovich go there too. Therefore there are prompts about outreach with God's message to the people He has laid upon your heart. How good to have that kind of "tap on the shoulder" to uphold His message. Just to mention, Jim was called home after his 4th bout of cancer in 2001, and our quadraplegic daughter Linda and I are very aware of God's presence in our lives. She is able to be working and has such an outreach to the 4th and 5th grade girls in Sunday school. Yes I prayed before and after I wrote this, God bless and use your day.

Peggy
