Dear friends of Slavic Missionary Service!
I would like to take a moment to talk to you about the importance of, and the need for support of the “general—missions” fund of SMS. This fund is very important, and often neglected.
Over the years we have been very careful to keep our overhead at a minimum so that all of the gifts can be used as designated. However, there still are expenses such as postage, office supplies and minimal salaries for the office staff, which must be met. The “general—missions” fund is used towards these expenses.
The fund also gives us the opportunity to respond to various ministry needs and projects that come up without much preparation. We do not use designated funds for areas other then where they are designated. If it were not for this fund, our ability to respond to urgent needs and requests would be limited.
Of course we are very thankful to those who give to all of our designations, whether it be the support of a missionary, the ongoing efforts of our media department, literature distribution, or church building projects, to name a few. But without a healthy “general—missions” fund, none of these other areas of ministry would be able to operate.
If God lays it on your heart, and you are able, any gifts to this fund would be greatly appreciated. We know that these economic times are difficult for many, and your prayerful support is just as important as your financial support. May God continue to bless you and use you to be a blessing to all you come in contact with!
